William Kvist Jørgensen (born 24 February 1985) is a Danish footballer, who plays for the German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart and the Danish national team. He can be used in most defensive and midfield positions but his favorite position is the central midfield. He was, however, signed to relieve Lars Jacobsen on right back in FCK in the autumn of 2007,[1] until Zdeněk Pospěch was bought to the position.
He has totally played 43 matches and scored four goals for various youth national teams and is now an important player for the A national team.

Born in Rønde in Jutland, Kvist started his football career at the local club Thorsager Rønde IF at the age of five. Two years later he moved to Copenhagen where he started in KB, one of the two clubs behind F.C. Copenhagen. While at KB, he made his debut for the Danish youth national teams in November 2000 and played 4 matches at the 2002 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship.
As child he also played handball, and is therefore known for his very long throw-ins. In the 1996–97 season he won the Danish youth championship in both handball with FIF and football with KB.
William was promoted to the first team in 2004. He debuted on 23 April 2005 in a match against FC Nordsjælland where he replaced an injured Ole Tobiasen on the right back position. His first F.C. Copenhagen goal came on 22 October 2006 in a 3–0 win against Viborg FF, where he scored the last goal from long range.
Against Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League 3rd qualification round 2006 it was Kvist's pass that deflected off Ajax-defender Thomas Vermaelen for an own-goal. This goal eventually sent F.C. Copenhagen through to the Champions League Group Stage.
In the season 2005–06, he often came in as substitute on mostly the left wing – a position he didn't enjoy playing. He has also played in defence and other midfield positions.
Kvist was called up for the league national team, which played a number of unofficial national team games in the United States, El Salvador and Honduras in January 2007, by national team manager Morten Olsen. He was in the starting lineup for all three games of the tour, including a 3–1 loss to the United States national team on 20 January 2007.
After the right-back Lars Jacobsen travelled to 1. FC Nuremberg in the summer 2007 was Kvist nominated by coach Solbakken to be the new right back in the club,[1] after having looked at about 50 different players, without result.[2] On 13 August proved Kvist that he only wished to play the position until Christmas, when he rather would evolve as a central midfield player, where he himself thinks he is best.[3]
Although, he has played 6 of his 7 matches for the Danish national team as right back. He was first called up on 17 August 2007 to the friendly match against Ireland on 22 August,.[4]
In the season 2010–11 William Kvist secured a starting place on the central midfield playing very well together with newly arrived Brazilian midfield, Claudemir de Souza, where he pushed the captain and the player with the most matches for F.C. Copenhagen, Hjalte Bo Nørregaard, out on the bench and taking a leading role reminding fans and media of the former leader and captain, Peter Nielsen. Kvist is the model central midfield player. He rarely concedes possession and uses the ball intelligently, is combative in the tackle and has the vision to pick out key passes.
On 16 June 2011, it was announced that Kvist had been sold to the German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a four year contract.[5][6]
